The count down is on to Summer season with the weather warming up here at The Farm Cradle Country, we can only imagine that you our guests like us are perhaps thinking of hitting the country roads for a scenic drive to one of our nearby Ice Creamery’s.
Despite our beautiful rural location we are lucky enough to have not one but three delicious Ice Cream destinations within a 15 - 45 minute road trip from The Farm Cradle Country.
The closest Ice Creamery is 15 minutes from The Farm Cradle Country and located at 55 Main Street, Sheffield TAS. Their opening Hours are Mon-Fri 6:00am - 5:00pm Sat - Sun 6:00am - 4:00pm.
Bossimi’s Bakehouse and Cafe has a great range of Van Diemen’s ice creams in their Ice Creamery.
Van Diemen’s ice creams are a local creamery only 20 minutes drive on the highway towards Launceston. Proudly Tasmanian, the ice creams use fresh Tasmanian ingredients, from local milk, leatherwood honey and lavender to Tasmanian peanut butter, olive oil and whisky. If you're not up to driving to the Van Diemans Icecreamery option three in this Ice Creamery showcase then this is a nice close stop featuring some yummy flavours from the Van Diemans menu.

Ice Cream with an education at Melina Honey - 45 minutes from The Farm Cradle Country - 39 Sorell Street, Chudleigh TAS. Opening Hours - Sunday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm (closed Saturdays)
Freshly made in Chudleigh. Choose from 12 different flavours, including their signature Leatherwood honey- all made with fresh Tasmanian milk, cream and pure honey! Our favourite is the Chocolate Honey Ice-Cream!!!! But seriously why stop at one, you are on holidays after all!!
While there explore what really goes on inside a beehive at their store, all from behind the safety of glass of course. Watch the worker bees spin their precious nectar into liquid gold and maybe even see a baby bee hatch! (Cuteness factor 100)
Taste the Wilderness at Melita Honey Farm. Sample some of the many honey varieties on offer, and enjoy bite-size testers of their delicious honey nougat! YUM!!! You can even grab a treat or ten from their store to take away with you.

If ever there were a go to destination for delicious freshly made Ice-Cream this would be our pick, they always have a HUGE selection of new and interesting flavours. Free taste testing for those ice cream connoisseurs out there and a cafe should you need something a little more substantial before your ice cream treat. For lunch, we would recommend the steak sandwich for anyone looking for a delicious pre ice cream lunch.
Our fav ice cream flavours in past (frequent) visits would be Licorice, Ginger and a truly Tassie treat Pepperberry & Leatherwood.
There is artwork on display and for sale from a rotation of Tassie artists, good bathroom facilities and outdoor indoor seating options.
